Artichoke with an Argan Oil Dipping Sauce

A very simple and elegant boiled artichoke dish. It’s pretty effortless, visually pleasing and makes for an impressive appetiser for you to share on Valentine’s Day.

What you need;

  • An artichoke of the larger size (Globe)
  • 3 tablespoons of our lightly toasted culinary argan oil
  • 1 tablespoon of balsamic or apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon of wholegrain mustard
  • Sea Salt
  • Black pepper

Simply boil the artichoke whole in some slightly salted  water for at least 30 minutes depending on the size of your artichoke. The good thing is you can’t really overcook these. You’ll know it’s ready when the outer leaves are easily removed and tender.

Drain off the water and sprinkle the artichoke with some sea salt if you like. Artichokes have an amazing natural flavour so you really could just eat it like this. However, you won’t want want to miss out on the special dipping sauce.

Mix the argan oil, vinegar and mustard together before seasoning with salt and pepper to taste.

Display it whole on a sharing platter with a separate bowl for the dipping sauce and something to discard the used leaves into. Now simply peel off the leaves, dunk the fleshy part into the Arganic dipping sauce and eat away before sharing the heart! Now if you have not eaten artichoke like this before, you need to cut away the ‘hairy’ part of the heart before enjoying the best bit!

It's a favourite as it's bound to impress any dinner guest and it happens to be packed full of health benefits!
